St. John's View Walk, Run, Jump |
The house is a perfect place to relax but just outside the front door, Cornwall and North Devon are beautiful and at the same time fantastically diverse. Here are lots of things to do in the clean Cornish air ..... |
South West Coast Path Stunning coastal views are just a few deep breaths away from Crackington Haven beach. Just south is High Cliff, the highest cliff in Cornwall at 735ft. Bude Splash Leisure Pool The pool with its wave machine and flume is set in an all year round tropical atmosphere. The centre has a poolside cafe and a shop selling quality swim wear and accessories. A health spa with Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room is an ideal place to relax. Morwenstow If you are looking for a great Sunday lunch followed by a short walk to a great Cream tea take a trip a few miles north of Bude (just past the satelite dishes) to the pretty hamlet of Morwenstow and the Bush Inn. Fantastic views and a pretty church as well! Boscastle & Tintagel 7 miles south (by road or coast path) of the house you'll find the quaint harbour village of Boscastle. Boscastle became a national news story in 2004 when devastating floods hit the town. Much re-investment has gone into the town since and the visitor centre tells the story of the flood and much more besides. A few miles further south famous for it's supposed link with King Arthur you find Tintagel. The ruins of the Norman castle plus the National Trust owned Old Post Office make for a good trip out. Polzeath & Carruan Farm Thirty minutes down the road from Crackington Haven is the lovely sandy bay of Polzeath. In the summer the beach is fringed by surf shops, cafes and everything you will need. Just before you get to Polzeath oppisite the left turn to Roserrow Golf and Country Club you'll find Carruan farm, a lovely little place that has a farm shop, reasonably priced restaurant and best of all a working farm that allows the little ones to get up close to chickens, sheep, cows and goats. Rock & Padstow A further 5 minutes on from Polzeath you'll find Rock a.k.a. Chelsea-on-Sea as well as spotting the celebs Rock is the best gateway to Padstow via the ferry that runs frequently across the Camel estuary. Padstow has become synonomus with Rick Stein and in the summer is very busy. However, out of season the charm is there in bundles - chew on a pasty, sip a pit of Sharp's doombar and wander through the pretty shop fringed lanes. Gardens and More ... Visit the Japanese Garden and Bonsai Nursery at St. Mawgan, Newquay ..... Try the Broomhall Sculpture Gardens near Barnstaple .... And of course The Eden Project is only 40 minutes away just outside St. Austell Get Surfing Surf Lessons are available in Bude and Widemouth ("Widmuth") Bay. Also try the following : Mike Raven, Atlantic Pursuits, Zuma Jays also hires out all the kit you need whatever the season. All North Cornwall Holiday Cottages, iknow-cornwall.co.uk We hope you'd like to stay in our fantastic home but if you would like to find somewhere else in the North Cornwall area follow the link above to www.iknow-cornwall.co.uk Golf The North Cornish coast lends itself brilliantly to Golf, seemingly around every corner lies another 18 holes with equally fantastic scenery and welcome.
